Chelan!

Friday, June 26th, 2009

I’m headed off to Chelan tonight after work. I will come back with a tan, smelling of camp fire, and with a few pictures I am sure.

I will miss you Katy :) !

Update on Scrap

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009

Scrap went in to Motorsport last Thursday. Luckily, it doesn’t appear that he has a busted ringland, or any other sort of imminent threat. Worn rings, was the diagnosis. I’ve always noticed a little a blow-by when opening the oil-fill cap while the motor was running, which, since the WRX requires an even more compact compression tester than most flat fours, was how the issue was diagnosed. Prognosis; unless you want to throw money at it, don’t worry about that.

In that vein I loosened the wastegate actuator arm, and remapped the car to bring the boost back up to normal stage II levels.

Parts have been ordered for maintenance and updates:

  1. Spark Plugs. One step colder NGK Iridiums. NGK BKR7EIX Iridium IX Spark Plug (Amazon Link)
  2. JazzyEngineering 02-06 Subaru Aux-in Retrofit Kit. It will be nice to listen to my iPod again at a higher quality than tape or FM modulation.

I still want to get my hands on a black Samco or Perrin underhood hose kit. I really need an intercooler Y-pipe hose out of silicone, the PVC Subaru ones just aren’t cutting it. I think I have a boost leak.

More soon. :D

A beautiful grey…

The sky is a beautiful grey color today. I hate overcast days, and this area has a LOT of them, but there is something about today that is just amazing…

Setting up Google Analytics

Monday, June 15th, 2009

When setting up Google Analytics, remember to give GA the path to the area of your site where the code has been added to the pages.

For example, I’m only tracking the blog, so:

http://www.ezramoore.com = no good.

but

http://www.ezramoore.com/blog = was able to connect with GA just fine.

I’m happy to be experimenting with all this stuff and plan to implement GA over to the rest of the site as well. Maybe I will execute that after a redesign, I’ve never been able to make it all that interesting.

Proof! A clean desk…

Update on Scrap

Monday, June 15th, 2009

Scrap is in pretty poor shape at the moment. He has been brutalized and vandalized within an inch of his life, but I am happy to report that the wheels are in motion to start getting him fixed. I’m going to be posting a new page for him, where I will list off all the work he needs, it may actually turn into a maintenance log of sorts. Who knows? Regardless, he has an appointment with Motorsport in Port Townsend on Wednesday, and we’ll see why he’s consuming so much oil and blowing so much smoke. Then its time for a tune.

Then its time to stop spending money on my damn car.

iPhone OS 3.0 GM, what missing?

Monday, June 15th, 2009

I’m not going to lie and say that I expected unannounced features from Apple in the new iPhone 3.0 software, but I am a little put out at the lack of parallels between the current iLife (09) and the iPhone.

Bad Stuff (first, cause thats how I roll)

  • Where is my ability to upload to Facebook and Flickr? I can do it in iLife but there seems to be no parallel in the iPhone ‘photos’ app, even in 3.0, what gives?
  • Why can’t I move photos into other album? Create, rename, and publish albums? Where is this (hopefully) simple functionality?
  • The iPhone’s newfound ability to copy/share batches of photos (instead of one at a time) is fantastic. Both times I’ve tried to send about 20 photos to myself, the email app crashed. I can only hope this bug is resolved in future updates.

Good Stuff

  • CalDAV appears to be working well. This is a great enhancement that allows you to  use your Google Acounts calendars instead of ones local to your iPhone/computer.
  • Pictures appear to be sharper through some sort of change to the software (as reported).
  • There is now a preview square that acts as the ‘review’ button for photographs, allowing you to see a tiny representation of the last photo you took.
  • Call logs/VM now show which number a contact called from (home, cell, work, etc.).
  • The ability to email a contacts vCard is now present, via ‘Share Contact’ on the contact’s info page.

Overall the update is a strong one, I’m just sad to see the photo app is still so lacking.

Hey AT&T! Where the hell is MMS?

What am I going to do with my summer?

Saturday, June 13th, 2009

I love summer. Hello, my name is Ezra, and I am an addict.

I plan to:

  • Save up, fix Scrap’s motor.
  • Visit Chelan as much as possible.
  • Get out, hike, have fun.
  • Attend the Holloway reunion.
  • Visit friends, either in Utah, Iowa, or both.
  • Make my tan a little less farmer and a little more model.

Anyone else have ideas?

Sad songs

Saturday, June 13th, 2009

Every once in a while, I like to find songs that make me sad, or that tell a sad story. Nothing masochistic, just like to expose myself to the full gamut of emotion, and I love powerful stories.

Without further ado, here is my list:

Lightning / Eric Church
Anthem of Our Dying Day / Story of The Year
Point/Counterpoint / Streetlight Manifesto
Whiskey Lullaby / Alison Krauss and Brad Paisley
Brick / Ben Folds Five
Thunder / Boys Like Girls (the acoustic version is the best)

*sigh* This took me far too long to assemble, so hopefully I will add some more to it later on.
Do you have anything? Point if you can make me cry, haha :)
